Default is drinking unfiltered water *REALLY* bad?

The water that usually somes through our sink and water line in the refrigerator....are these water usually treated somehow?

I took my refridgerator filter cartridge out and havent been able to find a replacement anywhere, so I was wondering if drinking the water without any filter is really bad.

that amobea that goes up people's nose and eats your brain kind of got me thinking, so I was just wondering.

I'm hoping that my city would atleast do some kind of basic filteration before letting the public use it.

Tell me you aren't serious...

All municipal water systems in the US follow strict regulations.

Safer than most bottled water.

All municipal water supplies in the US are certified potable. They have to be. It's the pipes you have to worry about, and in the vast majority of cases those are fine too.

Tap water has stricter standards than bottled water. It also has fluoride.

the water is treated with chlorine..the filters remove the metals and minerals to an extent...drinking unfiltered water is fine unless you live in Mexico

Drinking filtered water is actually worse for you. You don't get the necessary minerals and salts/ions needed.

Depends on the water. A small town I lived in had great water, tasted like fresh from melted snow. Where I live now(the Big City) the water is nasty. Smells of chlorine and just tastes like pool water, my Brita pitcher makes it almost as good as the small town water though.

Nah, get a PUR filter that hooks to your sink faucet. It lasts us (wife and I) an easy 3+ mths before we have to change the filter. Filters run about $15. I believe. If you buy the multi-packs (2-3), it's cheaper.

As many said, they follow the EPA standards. It's much stricter than the FDA of bottled water.

We have to buy the 18L bottles, too much sulfur in the water.

No, toilet water is funneled right back in to the tap water.

Adds flavor.

We have old galvanized steel lines in our house and the water tastes terrible.

In any modern home you will have copper lines and that wont be an issue.

It's fine, but I wouldn't do it. I have a Brita at the very minimum.

Everyone says there's tighter regulations in tap water than in bottled water. Please show me. It's the same statement being regurgitated a billion times.

Drinking filtered water is actually worse for you. You don't get the necessary minerals and salts/ions needed.
You get more than enough from your food.
