Default Can 225/70/15 tires replace 235/75/15?

On the 97 Ford Exploder I have, it's needing some new tires.

What's on it right now are Bridgestone somethings in 235/75/15

I can't really find any decent deals on tires in that size, but have found some good ones on tires that are the 225/70/15 (the two sizes are in drop down boxes when I search for tires on say discounttire.com).

I don't know what came factory.

I know what the numbers are measurements of, just don't know if, and to what degree, they are interchangeable.

That size is too small IMHO. Can you find maybe a 225/75? That would be a better match, at least based on the size you have now. The factory size should be noted on the driver's door jamb, where the recommended tire pressure is located. If not, check the owner's manual.

They'll be 10mm narrower and about 1.5 inches shorter.

Ieeeeeee

I know what the size difference is...

Are tires interchangeable on the same wheel though? Surely not any 15" tire will fit on any 15" wheel.

Given the small width difference and the same diameter. Most likely. But being that much shorter you'll notice a different driving experience.

<-- absolutely hated having 30.5" tires on his car instead of 29"
