Default how long does it take for the wisdom teeth stitches to desolve?

Just wondering how long does it take for the stitches to desolve on its own? Just had all 4 of my wisdom teeth removed on tuesday. I have a feeling my doc might've used the non self desolving kind, they still feel hard like fishing wire.

Mine were removed about one week after they were extracted. A bit painful when they went, but nothing special.

The stitches take just few days to fall out. The holes your missing teeth make take a few years to fill in!

I feel the need to brag here, I have no idea how long it takes for wisdom teeth stiches to disolve because I still have my wisdom teeth. Interestingly enough, they actually pushed everything into allignment, I had refused braces because it would have just been cosmetic and then lo and behold everything took care of itself on its own. The really ironic thing is that if I had gotten the braces, they would have had to remove the wisdom teeth. I guess I dodged two things at once there.

Mine were silk sutures, so they don't dissolve. A couple fell out in about 4 days, the rest I had removed exactly seven days later. Generally, they're not going to use dissolvable sutures. Some do, most don't.

OMG, I know that! I had like...craters back there for a year. It sucked because food would get caught back in those holes, and chewing action would force particles of food down into the open space that was between the gum and tooth. I would rinse and brush, but some of it wouldn't come out, and it got infected.

I actually had to go BACK and have the gum line opened to allow that stuff to drain out, then sutured back together after a few days. That was the oral surgeon's fault. He did a real sloppy job when he sutured my gums. But, then, he did say this was one of the toughest wisdom tooth extractions he's done in years. My face wasn't just swollen, it was visibly BRUISED. :disgust:

I was out of it, so I didn't care. Versed + Nitrous, they could have pulled every tooth in my head.

i had mine done at the end of june....for some reason my stitches took forever to dissolve....i had all 4 done, and some fell out early but the last of the stitch fell out maybe 2 months after i had it done! and those things smell too and food gets caught on them so ur breath stinks so bad........

did they crack ur tooth? i guess they do it to everyone...oh man, thats gotta be one of the worst feelings, feeling ur own tooth crack! i can still remember it and cant stand it.....
