The original list became intractable so, by popular demand, I reorganized the list by genre and thinned it down to (in my opinion) the most popular and polished games. I've steered clear of including demo games, games in development with limited playability, and games of questionable legality.
First Person Shooter (FPS)
Wolfenstein: Enemy Territory (Windows, Mac, Linux | Multiplayer | Wikipedia) - Expansion to the commercial World War II FPS Return to Castle Wolfenstein.
CGW has an issue that included 101 "free" "games". (Free is in quotation because some are shareware, and games because some are just Mods). They included some of these titles.

Yeah, great thread. Maybe worthy of a sticky like the other thread for free/shareware. As games become "abandonware" (like Hidden & Dangeruos) they could be added. GOOD WORK randum!

You have to go through and do a bunch of single player training type stuff (basic training, marksmanship, sniper, airborne, medic, special forces, etc) to unlock all the multiplayer maps but it's WORTH IT! If you have trouble with anything go to the forums...
