If you were going to learn a language to make you more marketable (Project Management) - what would it be?

Chinese. Anything else is not even remotely close if you plan to go big, i.e. international business.

Chinese.. although its way too hard to learn so I doubt people will switch to chinese as a primary language.. However, it'll definately help

Hindi would be another one ( which is comparitvely easier ) but most educated Indians speak English so I don't think it's as important as Chinese..

Spanish is great only if you plan to stay in the US.. Outside the Americas, its useless

Well, its basically going to be Spanish pretty soon. Otherwise, I would go with Japanese.

Really depends on what business and what market. Here in the USA, Spanish is in high demand. If you're going to be dealing with China...then of course, you'll want to learn Spanish...or Chinese...
If you're going to be dealing with European countries primarily, then French and German would be helpful.

Short sited response. Why would you learn what will inevitably be the second most important Asian language?

Chinese. So many people speak it and China is an up-and-coming nation. It would be great if they got rid of the characters and went with the Latin alphabet, but that seems a little far fetched.

umm no... Spanish only if he plans to stay in America and deal regionally. Japanese doesn't make sense since China is going to be one of the superpowers.. Japan can't come anywhere close to China's capacity and strength.

German could be relatively useful too however Chinese and Spanish (in the Americas) are probably the most important.

Why would German be useful? I didnt really think it was used outside of Germany.

Well, it's spoken in Austria, Switzerland, and Belgium also. However, businesspeople in those countries are going to speak English far better than you're ever going to speak German, so it's not really that useful to learn.

Edit: It's a common second language in central Europe as well.

FORTRAN of coure.

Think about where you want to live or visit. Do you want to spend time in the Far East (Chinese)? Middle East (Arabic)? Africa (French)? Europe (French or German)?
