Can someone provide a link for me to confirm exactly which Micron D9 ICs are used on these modules?

That is all good but that didn't answer my question.

BTW, which IC's do those sticks you linked use?

Thank you.

Now another question...since as they ship with two types of D9....

Which of those two are better?

I just want some more knowledge...

1) Why is the GMH better?
2) How can I be sure before-hand, which one the memory actually uses?

With the lower speed sticks, it is impossible to know which modules you will get. If you buy say the 1066, then you know for sure they are D9GMH's as they are handpicked.

what do you mean handpicked? Crucial doesnt handpick these. A machine bins them to 1.8ns.

A machine picks the best of the best lol.

Cheex, to answer your questions-

1) Many would actually prefer the D9DQW, it is known as "fatbody". It is the older rev D9 that came before D9GMH. This stuff is OLD and hasnt been used in a long time. All e-tailors will send you D9GMH ballistix PC2-6400.

It is good stuff!

Yeah, D9GMH is definitely some good stuff. I personally don't have Ballistix DDR2, but my G.Skill HZs also use D9GMH and my sticks will run perfectly fine at DDR2-933 with 4-4-4-12 timings with only 2.2V! At 5-5-5-15 timings, they go past 1000 MHz easily.

Also FYI there's another type of D9 that's supposedly better than GMH-GKX. It's also used in very aggressively clocked DDR2, such as the G.Skill PC2-8500 HZ that runs at very fast 4-4-4 timings stock.

I got GHM's in my Ballistix PC5300 so if you want to go a little cheaper it might be worth looking into

I'm looking at pushing my CPU a little closer to the 3.5GHz mark or at the very least 3.33GHz (475 FSB). So I would want higher than DDR2-533...

Choices would be DDR2-800 or DDR2-1066 but...
I'm strapped for cash...Still saving up...Still a far way off...

Is it really worth it at this point (totally strapped for cash) to spend money on a 2GB kit of Tracer memory or should I just buy another stick of what I have now?

Your thoughts and opinions...???

My current memory

If I dual channel this memory by buying another stick of it, I will essentially end up with this set.
Here are the reviews on this kit.

Default Crucial Ballistix Tracer DDR2-800 (PC2-6400)

Hey, here is what I am thinking.

If you want to get to 3.5ghz, you'd need 7x500 or PC8000 ram. If your current ram cannot do PC8000, it will become unusable. Which means in the best case scenario you will get roughly 17% performance increase of going from 3.01 to 3.5ghz C2D and will have 2 gigs of ram.

Of course there are also no guarantees that your cpu will clock to 3.5ghz.

However, it's not as if 3.0ghz C2D is bottlenecking your system. By the time it will, 8800GTS 320 will be far more limiting for gaming. So instead of spending $180 on 2 gigs and throwing away 1 gig, you could just get 1 extra stick for $50 and pocket $130 towards your next big upgrade (like the graphics card). Think of it as $ put aside for a rainy day. At the same time going to 2gb will provide for a smoother gaming experience and faster loading times (somewhat), while not breaking the bank.

In my opinion, by the time you'll feel that 3.0ghz is too slow, you'll probably be looking to buy and overclock a cheap Quad-core anyway.

I myself have this Corsair 5400 2gb kit $70. I got it in October for $200 and it's revision 7.1 with ProMos chip. It does 1000mhz making it a smoking value. However, you probably cant guarantee same revision and the chips might not overclock that well.

I say you just get 1 extra stick DDR2 800 for as cheap as possible to match your 430mhz overclock and save your $ for a more substantial upgrade.

Also take a look at This
Under high resolutions (which is what top end cards are used at), there is no noticeable performance benefit today from C2D at 4.2ghz vs. 2.66ghz with a 8800GTX, nevermind 8800GTS 320mb. This should make you reconsider the importance of going from 3.0 to 3.5ghz.

Cheex, since you have a 7x cpu multiplier, why not just buy some of this Crucial Ballistix PC8000? And if you really want Tracers, here they are for only $7 more. You could then either keep what you have now as a backup, or sell it, to offset the cost of the Ballistix.
