How small can Win98 SE be installed, with just networking & internet capability ??
I want to try installing it on my laptop, but it only has 710mb hdd
Wondering how small I can get Win98SE, & if there's a possibility of installing a few more appz.
I have it on a small (420 mb) hardrive that I use to test motherboards. It is full load for approx 300mb. The key is ram, you should have 32mb or more.
The total install of Win98 can be as low as 150MB if I'm not mistaken.. Just do a custom install and don't choose to install anything not required... Should leave plenty of space for a few good appz..
I have Win98SE installed on a 640MB partition and install no programs on this partition. With only a few apps I'm up to full and need to expand the partition. I found that Outlook was storing me mail messages on this partition (C and I can't find any way to move it. It constitutes over 150MB but still. I think you will run out of space very quickly.
Not yet, but I'm fairly sure I can do it.
First off, I usually remove quite a bit of the 'optional' windows appz.
Also, I'm planning to set it up to use the mail & contacts databases on my desktop, so that should ease it up as well
