Looks like they did make a mistake. Oh well, I guess I'll feel a little guilty in my warm $400 leather jacket (cost me $113)

Text of story:
Coupon error at Macys.com
CNET News.com
Bargain hunters looking for a deal got big discounts at Macys.com, using a series of coupon codes that weren't meant for public use to get as much as 50 percent off normal prices.
At least four coupon codes were circulated Saturday to members of Web community site FatWallet.com before Macys.com discovered the error and canceled the coupons, according to a spokeswoman from the Internet arm of stalwart brick-and-mortar retailer Macy's. Macy's, owne d by Cincinnati-based Federated Department Stores, didn't disclose whether it would honor the purchases made with the codes.

Which is why we locked the thread, once we saw the story. Once that information was made public, further attempts to get in on the deal would be unfair to Macy's.
