I have had one running for three days now. No Buzz, quiet, runs well.
I am powering it with a BFG 1 KW PSU.
The CPU is a QX6700, 2 Gb Corsair Dominator PC28500, BFG 8800GTX-OC
I am just starting to play with overclock, so far it seems to be a stable, high quality well built motherboard. The layout is quite good. All the componnents are straight and vertical, all solder joints are clean and shiny. The board is impressive looking, installed easily and is running with no issues so far.
I am running Vista Ultimate RC-1 on it.

its true. When buying a Commando or P5B-E plus aka rev. 1.02g u got a good chance to get one that will make this noise or produces this noise with ur PSU.

Too much HD space...
We'll I spoke to the egg, and at first they said that "buzzing" was not a defect and therefore would not refund..
But I then explained that the problem is a loose coil was causing the buzz and therefore it was a "defect" so if I get
a buzzer I'll be able to return it.
But I really want to keep the Commando, I'll see if I can manually tighen the coil and if that works then I'll put a glob of gunk(non-condutive) on the coil to ensure that it stays thay way.
Either way I'll see how good or bad the mobo overclocks.. I'll be getting some GSkill ddr1000 ram "D9" chips....
What CPU heatsink are you using? Also, what do you think of the passive chipset coolers? Think you'll replace them?
This board is at the top of my P965 list... looking forward to your feedback!
I am using a Zalman 9500, so far I have noot seen a need to replace the passive coolers. Sorry for the slow reply, have been traveling.
So far this is a great Mobo, no complaints.
Anyone try the 0803 bios yet?

No buzzing here, running prime 95 on both 6400 cores @ 3.2ghz.
I'm running the original 0601 bios still but I doubt that has anything to do with the buzzing.
Do many Asus boards have a buzzing noise? Not the same board at all, but my A8R32-MVP buzzes. Also freezes up sometimes
I'm loosing faith in asus, past few boards I've had from them for my PC or a customer's PC have needed RMA'ed. Second board has always been fine but still its a hassle and extra $$$. I may be RMA'ing my board soon now as well....
I'm gonna swap it out @ Fry's tonight, will report back on the buzz/whine. It's not loud, but will vary the pitch depending on where my head is, lol. I can hear it when I enter the office.
Swapped w/ a Seasonic S12, whine from PSU much worse. I've found 3 dif whines...
1. the Raptors
2. the psu
3. the board
psu is minor and livable, board drives me mad and so do the raptors. I don't remember hearing this on my P5B. The only thing I can think of would be the way the commando's drawing power from the psu. But then again, you've got some of the cleanest power there don't ya?
I don't particularly care for my 8800 being lower either...it runs hotter in here than the p5b. I might pick up an Intel BX2 or P5b here in a bit...
We'll my Commando locked up hard this morning, I didn't get the chance to swap mobo's w/ the p5wdg2 ws pro.
I wasn't doing anything except ssh, I switched to another computer running Linux and a X2 4600 and looked at my commando workstation and it said "Your video drivers have failed" it looked to be in a 320x200 resolution w/ 16 colors.
So I turned off the computer and it would hard lock at the bios screen after "initializing usb" nothing would work. Unplugged power, etc, nothing worked, so I unplugged everything "usb -> printer, hub, scanner" then I unplugged the power cord and switched off.
I went eat something (30min) then turned it on. Finally it worked, it gave the failed overclock message.. WTF, I didn't have anything overclocked...
Maybe it was windows "3D Pipes" screen saver that brought my system down w/ it's 8800GTS ....
Anyway I'll do some testing before I pull this commando out & replace w/ the p5wdg2 ...
The one good thing is it doesn't buzz.... it just locks up and does nothing ...
I wonder if this mobo will be another "A8N-SLI" ,,,, I went thru 3 boards before I gave up and got a DFI ...
Still curious that anandtech has no review of this mobo, maybe they know something we don't..
