Default changing refresh rate on CRT, but monitor still at 60hz

driving me insane. i have the drivers for the monitor, its the correct one. the drivers for the video card. all i did was swap my CRT for another CRT. i always remember this trinitron g420 always giving me trouble with the initial setup with the refresh rate. i forgot what i did in the past to get it to work, but i assume it was the driver INF file for the monitor. that doesn't seem to work now though. the monitor is not bad, i know that. uggg.

Default

Had a similar issue with my monitors after an XP reinstall a few months ago: after reboot my Viewsonic G220f would jump to 85Hz, my Sony would drop to 60Hz. Nothing I did could get both monitors to stay at 75Hz.

My issue was caused by the nVidia setup wiz...it was the first time I had ever used it, I had always used desk.cpl in the past. After another reinstall, I canceled out of the nVidia wizard and used desk.cpl to set my refresh rates. Worked great.

Looking back now, perhaps uninstalling and cleaning out the nVidia drivers and installing them again, then using desk.cpl, may also have worked. It might be worth a try.
