Default DD-WRT PPTP VPN server support - problems

When I VPN into my home FIOS connection over my DD-WRT router, I cannot access certain sites. Primarily CDN URLs (content distribution network), but I've noticed, also SSL/HTTPS URLs.

I couldn't sign-in/check-out at bestbuy.com, nor could I use my DuckDuckGo SSL/HTTPS search plugin.

I previously had the MTU on the DD-WRT router manually configured for 1400, thinking that the MTU was the problem. But I put it back onto "Auto" and it still has problems.

I don't know if it's the version of DD-WRT, or what.

Has anyone sucessfully set up a PPTP server using DD-WRT, and not been limited by the number of sites that they can connect to?
