Funny MPG comment from my coworker
So because the gas prices are going up, he was asking how much I spend on gas. I'm like @ 4.35, i fill up once a week for my weekly commute, which consist of 35 miles each way for 10 round trips. So I was like 55-60 weekly.
I drive a 4 banger and he has a 3.2 V6.
He then tells me oh his car is cheaper to run because he doesn't fill up once a week.
I did want to say it but he sits in my car 5 days a week carpooling so he doesn't need to fill up more than once a week. He only drives it on the weekends. He did get that he doesn't drive daily and does not need to fill up once a week

WTF didn't you say anything? I would have probably been a little shitty about that, actually.
FWIW I hate cars that need filled up every 200-250 miles. That was one of the most obnoxious things about commuting on a bike, they only get ~120 miles to a tank.

I just can't.
This is also the same person that was amazed that my convertible doesn't get flooded when it rains. he was like your top is waterproof ?
I'm like you sat in it for 3-4 months and we had several rain storm and you never got wet.
He actually got out of the car when we got to work and touch the top to make sure rain doesn't get in. Very funny. I think if i keep my mouth shut, he'll have more funny things to say.
He drives an Acura TL 2008 btw

My DL650 has a nice big tank. Usually I refuel around 225-250 miles.

A car is always cheaper to run when you don't drive it?
Oh wait, that doesn't make sense. If you're not driving it, it's not running (unless you just start it up and let it run every day just for the hell of it).

Good self control on not laughing in his face about it. Make a log of these things he says! It never seizes to amaze me how many completely ignorant idiots are out there.

How is it carpooling if you're the only one who drives? Does he give you gas money?

I get 9MPG on average with a 1.3L Wankel, but fill up once every 3-4 weeks. My car is cheaper to run than both of you, and I use Premium.

Same with my ZX-11
Catches some people off guard until you bring up the 6+ gallon tank and mid to high 40's MPG.

Well in that case, I haven't filled up my 5.7L chevy V8 truck in 10 months. So obviously I have the cheapest vehicle!
I use it for feeding my animals and only gets driven rarely as I use my ATV for most things.

Maybe they have paid parking. One guy pays the fee and another drives. I know some of my coworkers have that arrangement.

I'll gladly pay for parking if someone is willing to chauffeur me to work and back.

Depends on how much parking is and how far the drive is, wouldn't it?

I think the consensus here is that big V8 trucks, turbo rotaries, and twin turbo'd V6's with duel pumps are the cheapest vehicles to run... who'd a thunk it

He should be filling your car up once a week!

unless you live in the middle of nowhere, the traffic is a lot more expensive (mentally) than parking.
