I just bought somebody a P7-1235 a few days ago at $539.99. $500 for the next model up is a good deal. Faster (slightly?) CPU and 2GB more of RAM.

After removing all of the junk apps it seemed like a pretty snappy computer. I was actually thinking of recommending to some relatives for their kids.

I think it'd be a great kids computer...$100 over a base model computer but it comes with lots of upgrades and can actually play games fairly well.

The big OEMs never really had entry level gaming rigs, you always had to get their $1K machines to find a GPU good enough...even the cheapest custom gaming rigs would probably cost more than this (like ibuypower).
