I need a new case and currently, the Silverstone Fortress FT02
is my favorite. That‘s because it‘s elegant, can be both quiet and performant, and has positive air pressure; I don‘t like dust. To be completely awesome, it‘s lacking a removable motherboard tray, but as long as it‘s got enough space to work with contrarily to my Antec P182, I should be fine.
The one thing that kept me from buying the FT02 is, that it doesn‘t get along with my CPU heat sink — the Prolimatech Genesis
—, as the TDP (Thermal Design Power) of the Genesis will decrease from 360W to 100W if rotated by 90 degree, according to the engineers of Prolimatech (I wrote them an email). Unfortunately, 100W is not enough for some OC.
Found no better case, so I'm now looking for a heat sink which works fine in the FT02. What do you think about the Prolimatech Megahalems Rev.C
? Its heat pipes are orthogonal to gravity inside the FT02, unlike the heat pipes of the Genesis. So, there shouldn‘t be any drop in TDP when the sink is rotated. I'm unsure whether or not the heat pipe orientation of coolers like the Thermalright Silver Arrow
causes performance problems inside the FT02.
I want to continue to OC my CPU between 4.4GHz and 4.8GHz.
My current system is:
plus an SSD, two HDs, 16GB of low profile RAM, one DVD drive. I'm going to add a Lamptron FC5 V2
to my system.
