Default If you win the lottery, do you have to go on TV and take pictures for the media?

If I win I want to keep it a secret and not let friends and relatives know.

It's public information. Everyone will know, especially your 6,000 favorite charities that'll write you every week to find out how you're doing.

Once I lived the life
Of a millionaire
Spent all my money
I just did not care
Took all my friends out
For a good time
Bought bootleg whiskey
Champagne and wine

Then I began
To fall so low
Lost all
My good friends
I did not have
Nowhere to go
I get my hands
On a dollar again
I'm gonna hang on
To it
Till that eagle grins

Nobody knows you
When you're down
And out
In your pocket
Not one penny
And as for friends
You don't have any

When you finally
Get back up
On your feet again
Everybody wants
To be your old
Long-lost friend
Said
It's mighty strange
Without a doubt
Nobody knows you
When you're down
And out

When you finally
Get back upon
Your feet again
Everybody wants to be
Your good old
Long-lost friend
Said
It's mighty strange
Nobody knows you
Nobody knows you
Nobody knows you
When you're down
And out

it's impossible to do that....unless you pay some guy to act like the winner.

i don't see why people are so worried about this when all they have to do to not worry is don't buy any tickets so i can be the winner who will be very very happy to go on TV and you can take pictures of me in my underwear accepting the check or anything you want because if i win $640 million i want everybody to know and will be able to get the good body guards, i'll hire that guy "Big Rob" away from the Jonas Brothers and besides, i'll be doing a reality show to show all you all the right way to spend $640 millions of dollars

For $640 million, I'd get down on my hands and knees and bark like a dog on national TV.

OP, it depends on what state you live in. Some states require that your name be published, in case any creditors want to come after you. Other states respect your right to privacy.

In either case, you may be able to hire a lawyer to set up a trust to claim the prize, so that you can retain your privacy.

For $638 million, I'd let them do that to you and I'd sit back and laugh.

The privacy would be worth the investment, but I could find somebody to do it for a lot less.

Don't you guys remember the SNL skit in the early 90s where Dana Carvey played Ross Perot and he went to a shopping mall and was paying people to humiliate themselves? A guy got down on all fours and was barking like a dog and it was hilarious.

Early 90s? I wasn't old enough to be up that late
