yeah, I may end up spending the first weekend on 3 classes--likely mesmer, thief, necro or guardian. or maybe use each weekend for a different class.

They all look to have their particular charms. Warrior is my main and by far most played class in GW (mainly because I used him to hoard titles--back when many more of the titles were character-specific), but eventually, I much preferred playing caster classes, or assassin, really.

I'm really debating about doing the pre-purchase or not. I'm excited to play the game but the constraints during the summer might mean I would ultimately end up having less and less time to play it. But I think I'm still leaning heavily on buying it.

consider that it's a one-purchase MMO--no subscription, and certainly not a F2P game.

ANet puts out great stuff, so maybe the extra cash (you still get decent digital items) for beta test that you may not be able to take advantage of could be considered a decent "Thank you for being awesome, ANet" tip.

Anyone having trouble logging into GW today? I'm getting error code 004, think the server is down.

I wanted to cap some elites before running out.

Well, I hope it's the servers, and not that yet another one of my characters has been banned.

Cool, thanks. I didn't see anything about network issues on their front page. Figures--one of the only bonus weekends I wanted to participate in for some time. I recently stumbled into the Survivor title track...so now I'm leery of dying on this character, even though I need to do high level HardMode missions and vanquishing zones.

Elite skill caps (also would like to focus on unlocking random elite skills for once) is an easy, quick way to get XP, especially when bonuses are doubled.

probably somewhere in the realm of: "significantly more than what you need for WoW, and significantly less than what you need for Rage."

All I know is that it needs ~25gb storage space.

Early release is likely DX 9, only (though that could simply be Beta releases--maybe it will be DX 10 on the general release.)

Oh, no worries there. I'm sure my Phenom II 965 will be more than adequate. I think anything 2x+ will be plenty fine. This should be GPU/GRAM and RAM heavy, if anything.

I'm hoping I can cram GW2 on my 90gb SSD--which is now 40gb of Windows 7, catalyst drivers, and Chrome.....is that odd?

Just preordered the digital edition and was able to register. Would really love to see a published release date though.

All the online preorders list shipping on June 26th, 2012. Got my full CE from gamestop.

But is that confirmed? I wasn't sure if anything we've seen is set in stone, was hoping for something a bit earlier, but in the GW beta, they opened the servers up for full time play a month before. Was pretty cool when they did that, and I remember their open beta the weekend before release too.

No, it isn't set in stone.

But it is most likely one of the target dates they gave the retailers.

And it makes sense, BWE in April and May with release on June barring any major problems.

Just picked up the DD as well, I wanted the collectors ed. for the artbook and the large prints but can't really justify the extra $$ for that figure, it's really annoying that every company seems to do this now.

I noticed when registering it says your display name is used in game, does that mean all of your characters are going to use your display name? If so that's pretty lame.

No.

That is the account name.

Characters have and will display their own name (and if any names you have on Guild Wars are reserved to you).

Yeah that's what I figured, but in the registration it said those 4 random numbers will be displayed behind your display name on the forums or if you log into the game and someone else is using the same display name so that's what made me wonder.

We know that you can give nicknames to your friends in your in game friend list.

Maybe they keep in game track of the account name for some reason - to help identify your friends or guildies, since you can represent different guilds.

No idea.

Just know characters will display their character name.

Or maybe that is just a beta thing.
