Default asmedia or intel 6gb sata port on asus p8z68-m pro?

I noticed there are 2 intel and 1 asmedia 6gb sata ports on my board, I have a m4 128gb I will be using as the only drive. Why is the asmedia 6gb port even on the board? is there an advantage to using it?

i'd use the intel port

the asmedia port might be used for someone who wants 3 SATA 6gb/s connectors, but intel gives only 2 on the chipset
