I'm confused.

According to the Intel website, they have only released 10.8 for the F6 floppy which most people don't even need anymore. There is no 10.8 RST .exe for Windows.

However the OP'ers link is to an exe file. What's inside that I am not too sure.

The "F6" drivers and the "regular" drivers are identical. The only difference is the packaging: F6 drivers come in a zip file that contain only the drivers while the regular packaging is wrapped in an installer and includes the various RST tools/utilities (that I never use anyway). You can always install/update using the bare F6 drivers via Device Manager.

You could download it and find out. You can download all the malware in the world and be 100% safe: you need to execute a file in order for it to have a chance of doing something bad; downloading a suspicious EXE file to examine is perfectly safe as long as you don't execute it. Anyway, it's just a self-extracting archive containing the bare F6 drivers.

Ah. I did not know that you could update them through device manager using the F6 zip package. I did wonder what the RST UI actually did.

I installed my last RST drivers through the installer but I have now updated through device manager. This means I have 10.8 in device manager but 10.6 on the windows program. If I uninstall "Intel Rapid Storage Technology" through programs, will it remove my actual driver from device manager? I have no use for the graphic program.

I second that emotion.

Paranoia isn't needed.

I think people have suggested that I said something that I didn't.

I did not know that F6 package was the same only in file only format. I thought this was only for floppy discs at pre-install. When I saw there was no .exe on the Intel website, I wondered what the OP linked to as that was an .exe. Obviously this is an oversight on my behalf.

Interesting. I have IRST v10.6.2.1001... which doesn't even show on the Intel site.
