Diane Rehm's political bias is showing
I really can't believe my ears. Apparently she hates this deal so much that she wants people to start stampeding and protesting the government. She is calling for people to organize large protesting groups.
It is happening right now on the radio.

I used to listen to her all the time until her bias got to be too much a part of her show. I can't remember what the topic was the day I decided it would be the last time I listened to her but her political leanings were front and center.

I think what's important is: which direction is her bias? That way people will know if her views will reinforce their own and if their insulation will be maintained.

Usually, NPR is pretty good about staying mostly center on the topics. However, her left leaning push was pretty strong and distasteful. She was doing the exact same stuff that she has criticized right-wing commentators of doing. The show had no content and was really just her berating anyone that supported the deal or that said that a march on Washington wasn't needed.

Mainly the fact that there were no tax increases. The whole show was her trying to get callers to call in and complain about the situation that we are in.

She can take solace in knowing increasing the debt is a hidden tax.

She is openly a far left liberal beach.. she scolds conservatives on the show all the time. Her voice gives me creeps. Only thing one can take solace on is her age...

Right, so she took the hard core progressive stance. NPR has always been consistently left leaning.

Diane Rehm is a moron, and NPR is (as usual) full of left wing hackery. This is news?

They usually aren't this blunt about it, at least from my own personal observations.

Then why are the American people being forced to pay for her show?

I heard her do some non-political interviews that were interesting.
But just about anyone could have given those types of interviews.

Her voice is due to a medical condition. When I first started listening, I thought she had to be close to a hundred based on her voice. She's no spring chicken, but her voice is the result of a condition that causes her to spend a considerable amount of time under medical care for it.
Can't remember what she has because I'd never heard of it before.

Imagine if Rush Limbaugh was on NPR... how long would it take for the funding to be pulled?

There would be no need for funding because enough people would actually want to listen to the content to justify it's existence and pay for itself. Now there's a crazy idea.

But she was born in 1936. So she is pretty old now at 75.

Some reporting is even-handed (I thought they did a fairly good job on the debt ceiling last week)...but that seems to be more the exception than the rule. Listen for the hardball questions for conservatives and softball questions for liberals...look at what issues they choose to Report/Not Report on...the antidotal reporting, etc...and perhaps then you will see the bias.
I remember about a year ago they did a puff piece on Al Gore, an antidotal story on a couple's healthcare problems clearly supporting Obamacare, and a softball interview with some liberal politician that I can't recall at the moment...all of it was back-to-back-to-back...I had to turn off the radio at that point.

With all due respect to Diane Rehm, it seems to me the neurological condition that makes her voice like that is a disqualifier to being a radio personality. I find her unlistenable due to her voice and so I have never really tried to listen to her program.

I listened to the first several minutes and heard nothing inappropriate, this was one of those 'the facts have a liberal bias' things that create baseless rage in the right.
Unfortunately, there's not a single liberal tv person I can think of who doesn't have a voice that's unpleasant - Maddow, Olbermann, O'Donnell. Radio is mostly better.
