124,000 miles
MPG: City 17/Hwy 26
interior looks pretty good for the age, some of the paint on the bumpers is gone but the body looks ok

they have $2900 on the sign, KBB says it is worth $1500
I need something in the $2000-$3000 range, is this a good car if they come down on the price?

2k would be a fair price really. in my state any car that passes NH state inspection is worth 2k. that being said if its in solid shape and has been well taken care. buy it for as little as possible. have the bumpers repainted and enjoy a comfortable car that has a peppy 6cyl that gets good highway mileage! and if anything happens to break they are cheap as heck to fix!

i am going to ask about the alternator, starter, water pump and fuel pump, some reviews have said these commonly go out after 100k, so if they have been replaced then i probably won't have to worry about them for a while
i'll use it for quite a bit of highway commuting, so the mpg will help

i mean not the car i would want but a solid commuter i had a 1997 Buick century. which was a nice car and had the 3400 V6 and i got 29-31MPG HWY cheap and easy to fix body rotted right off the thing or else im sure i would still have it.

Umm don't think that passed for "lux" even when it was new...
Seems a bit steep though, sub 2K car in my book.

Lol. My mom had a 1990 Oldsmobile 88. Certainly wasn't bulletproof. Water pump went on it pretty early on. I wouldn't get it. Plus, it looks like something an old woman would drive. Get an old Civic or something similar.

good cars, i had a 99. my best mpg was driving 55 to 65 mph, 31mpg. great in the snow too. I would not hesitate to get something built on this platform again. I had 120 on mine when i sold it.

i found a 1996 Buick Riviera with 140k miles for $2,500 on autotrader, it has the same engine, except supercharged (does that change the MPG?)
looks a lot better of course, its a coupe instead of sedan, doesn't really matter for 1 person driver, 5 years newer and it is priced below KBB

i go with that! those are comfy and if you keep your foot out of it the SC wont suck to much gas but it does give you a nice bit of passing power

My Aunt had a supercharge Rivera for a while. It wound up being one of the worst cars ever in terms of maintenance both in her experience, and from the research she did.

It isn't that bad for mileage. The OP doesn't really need a performance machine, but a beater to get from point A to point B. It would be a hell of a lot more comfy than a used 90s Civic that another poster suggested to boot. Luxury != performance.

Especially when you can get a 10 year old Crown Vic for like 3K or less.

But that car is wrong wheel drive! I recommend the S2000 or 3-Series BMW, they are rear wheel drive and you can do track days!
