BIOS MOD for Asus IPIBL-LB (HP name Benicia-GL8E.)

I have an HP m9250f (My first and last HP computer I?ll ever buy) it has the Asus IPIBL-LB (HP name Benicia-GL8E.)

I did the mistake of upgrading the BIOS from 5.23 to 5.25 (BIOS was obtained from HP site) to see if it solves a problem I had. Instead, it dropped the support for RAID5 and RAID10 to just RAID1 or RAID0 which defeat the reason of buying this computer in the first place.

Does anyone knows how I can either modify the BIOS to support RAID10 again, or alternatively use genuine Asus BIOS, or at least a way to downgrade it back to 5.23 which worked just fine for me with support for RAID 10?

Only place your gonna get a BIOS for the machine is from HP. I'd check to see if they have the older BIOS's hosted, otherwise your SOL(Unless google can bring up something). IMO thought, I'd rather have raid 5/10 be done on dedicated raid card.

That?s what I figured too?. I was just looking for a low cost solution that might work out of the box since I?m not using it as a server...

Looking at some of the SATA raid cards, it?s not a bad idea...

Now if I can only find one that is compatible with 64bit vista, has speed of 3.0Gbs and hope that HP didn?t find a way to force master boot drive from the motherboard?s SATA0??

I've purchased an HP dx2400 with the same motherboard, with the idea to put a second disk inside and create a mirror. To my unpleasant surprise, I don't have RAID options in BIOS at all!!

Could you possibly send the version of BIOS with RAID0 and 1 capabilities? I'd like to give it a try. It's not available from HP.

You?re lucky I still have it. I usually don?t keep bios files after installing them because you can?t reinstall them, and they are not good for anything else...

Well, in HP case, they just no good in the first place?

How do you want me to transfer it to you? Do you have an FTP site, or email address that doesn?t block EXEs?

On the off chance you never got this fixed... Did you guys go into the BIOS setup and and change your settings to whatever they were before the update cleared them (presumably the relevant one here is setting the SATA mode to RAID?)
