2008 MINI Cooper S [With Pics]
I picked up a new 2008 MCS 6spd MT with convenience package and rear fog lights.
It is a blast to drive, and it has so much low end power that keeping it within the break-in limit is very easy.
Front
Side
Side Repeater
Rear
Side Top
Shifter
Bridgespoke Wheels
Exhaust
I can't wait until the 1200 mile break-in period is over.

According to CR, the reliability of the new Cooper (R56, etc.) is well above average. The same can't be said about the older (supercharged R53) one, though.

I'ts already plenty quick and handles like a dream. Any more power and I'm afraid there might be some torque steer (there is a tiny bit now just because it has so much power in the low revs [max tq at 1500 rpm]).

Good choice. The mini is a safe ass car. Someone T-Boned me going 45-50mph, directly in the side door.
The mini gave its life for mine.

I've driven the original Works (phase 1 with the phase 2 210hp upgrade) and it's really not a problem unless you keep trying to provoke it.

I know! I was hoping no one would notice. Is it normal for brake dust to accumulate quickly during the tire/brake break-in period (first 300 miles)?
And I'm the only one who will wash/detail my car.

And the R56 handles better, so that could be interesting. There is a factory JCW Cooper S starting from the 2009 MY.

Really wanted one a year back, but now it's too 'small' for me (not to mention expensive). I'd rather get a Yaris now .

With the new (2008 and up? EPA ratings), and manual transmission (like mine), the Cooper S gets 26 in the city and 34 on the highway.

The stripes come with the sports package, although you can get them as a standalone option. I was going to get aftermarket springs to lower the car and stiffen up the suspension. The MINI boards (and IamWiz, thanks for the advice ) say that you can do better and cheaper aftermarket as far as suspension is concerned. I don't want to rice the car by putting stripes without changing the stock handling.
Cliffs: I will put stripes once I modify the suspension.

i'm looking at aftermarket as well. i don't care much for the stock angled stripes, and the "sport" stripes fall short of the front and rear bumper. let me know what you go with. I see on Mighty Stripes and Aesthetics Creations that a full stripe kit is about $240...very pricey for plain vinyl.
is the stock handling not good enough? every review boast the "go-cart-like" handling.
