Default Thanksgiving Ribeye?

I'm getting tired of Turkey. I propose we change it to thanksgiving Ribeye or Porterhouse.

My brother-in-law and I are the only ones eating meat, so we end up just cooking a turkey breast.

PITA PETA.

I had ribeye for thanksgiving. Neither my dad nor his mother like turkey. Unfortunately I do but I always get voted down.

Turkey blows, I would support a change to almost anything.

The first Thanksgiving didn't include turkey anyway. The birds were duck and goose and it was backed up with venison, lobster, clams, fish and veggies. No turkey, no cranberry sauce, no pumpkin pie. And since I don't like turkey, cranberry sauce or pumpkin pie I hereby approve getting back the the basics. Gimme duck, venison and lobster and I'll really get into Thanksgiving.

Voted for steak. I associate turkey with the holiday and only have it once a year. I'll survive.

OP, this doesn't mean you can't enjoy that wonderful steak!

Chicken and steak are just as tasteless, unless you get really cheap steak.

And that's why you make a nice herbed brine for the turkey, then rub butter under the skin, then let the skin dry out in the fridge a little.

Don't forget the staples.

Thumbs up for brined turkey.

Or chicken, or even cheap steaks, believe it or google.

Ham and scalloped potatoes for me this year. That, turkey and prime rib are the traditional feasting meats for the holidays.

I vote for Mexican or Indian. Mexican will honor our newest "immigrants" and Indian will honor the people that keep our computers running :^D

Brined up a 8 lb. turkey breast using water, salt, apple cider, honey, rosemary, peppercorn, onion powder, garlic powder. let it soak for around 18 hours, took it out around 12, rubbed it down with butter and minced garlic, put it on the smoker cooking at 235-250 with hickory. hope to pull it off around 4, and let it sit for about hour.

Personally, I'd rather cook a steak, but wth, I'll try anything once.

Steak for every meal, save Thanksgiving and Christmas. Use Turkey on Thanksgiving, ham for Christmas.

Whatever floats your boat. We had a nice roast tri-tip for dinner last night.
The turkey should be out of the oven in an hour or so...

Turkey will suck or not depending on how its prepared. Most people bake it and dry it to hell and it tastes like shit and I have to drown it in salsa for it to be edible. We usually do ham+turkey in case the turkey fails.
