Default LOL. Don't show your receipt @ Walmart, get banned for life

I respect that guy for not showing his receipt, but I also respect Walmart's right to serve whoever the fuck they want

http://consumerist.com/2010/03/why-w...y-receipt.html

Quote:
If the story ended here, I would have nothing to be disappointed about: my right not to submit to a search by a private party was respected, and Walmart's right to detain suspected shoplifters for a reasonable amount of time while awaiting a law enforcement officer for an investigation (in accordance with the common law concept of Shopkeeper's Privilege) was also respected. No one's rights were violated; I was satisfied that my personal rights had been respected, and Walmart's representatives were satisfied that Walmart's property rights had been respected.

At this point, however, one of the Asset Protection employees stated to the other (in paraphrase; I do not recall the exact words), "I don't think we want people like him here, do you think we should ban him?" to which the first replied (again in paraphrase), "Yes, let's go get the paperwork." My driver's license was taken by the police officer and processed. I was asked to sign a notification of trespass by the Walmart employee, and the officer issued me a trespass warning. And so I was banned for life from all Walmart properties.
Quote:
it was ultimately made clear to me that Walmart had no intention of lifting my ban and apparently does have a policy of banning people who (fully within their legal rights) decline receipt searches

Show receipt. Go on with your life. Especially if the sensor alarm goes off.

People try to argue this at the Costco, Sam, BJ's stores here. It's BS...loss mitigation is a big part of keeping prices down...the asshat that doesn't want his receipt marked is the one looking to screw the system.

It's actually helped me a few times with items that got left behind or that I was charged an extra one for.

Didn't read the article... but I don't get why he got the trespassing warning. I would think he would only get a trespassing warning if he tried to go back into the store.

Yeah, ummmm, we already had this conversation a thousand times before in ATOT. We really dont need it again.

I vote we lock thread right now before Moonbeam comes in and gets banned.

Yeah but it's too much fun acting like you didn't hear anything and letting the retard chase you down in the parking lot.

Haha. Tell the truth, usually if there's a line to show receipts at the door, I dispense with being accomodating and stroll right by. If he doesn't follow me, I win. If he does follow me, I show my receipt then and bypass the line. Win-win!

I got banned for life from Walmart in college for something a bit different. I went back a week later and for another 2 years no problem.

Yup. Twats like this like to make up bullshit about rights and nonsense being violated when being asked to show a receipt. In reality, this guy and people like him are miserable scumbags who have nothing better to do than try to cause as much trouble as they can that won't get them personally in trouble.

Yeah... this isn't exactly something that Walmart can enforce without some fancy pattern recognition software on their security cameras that matches license plate numbers in the parking lot or faces as they walk into the store. Despite what tv shows like "24" might have you believe, that kind of technology isn't widespread yet.

I guess that they could also ask for your ID and do a quick SSID check when you enter the door or try to buy something, but I highly doubt that they'll ever do that either.

Same as what can happen to the dude mentioned from the OP. There's what, like 10,000 Walmart stores? If the guy wants to go back, he can and nobody will give a shit, until he does something stupid to make them give a shit.

The walmart here doesn't check receipts anymore... I thought this was a company wide policy, guess not.

Screw Walmart. No reason to step foot into that place when Meijer and Target are roughly the same distance away.

I was getting my receipt checked at Fry's one time and this dude with a bag walked around me. The clerk asked if he could see his receipt. The guy said no as he kept walking and the clerk just shrugged.

I wish a Target would move within reasonable distance to me.
I also loved Fred Meyer when I lived in Oregon.
