Default DEAD - Hot Sprint Cellphone plan - Employee Friends and Family deal (SERO)

SERO plan

This is a very good plan if you don't mind Sprint service, it's at least $10 cheaper than any competitor.

The good:
$30 a month, plus junk fees and taxes (most likely somewhere around $35 total).
Free phone, no activation fee, free next-day shipping, no rebates on many phones.
500 anytime minutes, free nights/weekends after 7pm.
Free Sprint/Nextel mobile-to-mobile, free roaming, free long distance
UNLIMITED text, web, data, picture mail (Sprint Vision or Power Vision service depending on phone. Can also get Treo's and other data phones with this plan.)

The bad:
2-year contract, $200 early termination fee
No family plans and no extra lines can be added - one line per plan

Decent phone selection but it changes all the time, so keep checking if the one you want isn't there.
Some have been able to add 6pm n/w, 10% loyalty credits, first incoming minute free (FIMF), and other goodies by getting a friendly CSR. Try emailing customer care from your sprint.com account, you might get lucky. You can also get your corporate discount (if any) applied to the plan through ecare but it might take some persistence to get it done since they're not supposed to apply this to a SERO plan. Check for your co's. discount here, but note that not all accounts show up there.

Use 'savings@sprintemi.com' as the email address until they disallow it.

Otherwise, you can enter any valid Sprint email address in the form of 'first.last@sprint.com' to check phones and order, but you need a legit Sprint employee email. Might be better to PM one of the Sprint posters here to get a legit referral.

Also see the huge FW thread, search for SERO in Hot Deals.
Also see the huge SD thread, search for SERO in Deal Talk.

Update 5/24/07: Now includes unlimited text thru 6/30/07! Killer deal!

Update 1/16/08: Looks like unlimited text and 7pm n/w are here to stay. Some have reported that the 'savings@sprintemi.com' address does not work all the time, or they ask you for a real employee email. You can either google '@sprint.com' for addresses to use or visit a store and get a rep's business card (and permission to use).
There are various codes out there that you can enter when ordering to get a $50 statement credit (given as $25 credits over a couple of months). Currently, URANG works but it will eventually expire and be replaced by another. The SD thread usually keeps up with the current working code.

Update 7/13/08: As of 7/11, Sprint is no longer offering the SERO $30 (or $50) plan, so this deal is officially dead. Was a great ride while it lasted...

This thread has become a quagmire of people requesting referrals, begging for referrals, threadcrapping and bragging about the deal they got when Sprint messed up. That is not what this thread is about. It exists to help each other find the best deal and how to avoid problems when dealing with Sprint's customer servce. If this kind of above posting continues, I will lock this thread.

not bad. I have sprint PCS, and have had their service for 5 years. I know it's not a favorite on AT, but over the past 5 years, I haven't had a problem with it. The only "bad" service I've known anyone to have is Verizon. I realize that a lot of people would say Verizon has a good network and Sprint is trash, but in Columbus, Sprint has shown to be better; I guess it's YMMV depending on where you live. With that said, I would never sign a 2 year deal, regardless of the "deal" offered. For those who are ok with a 2 year contract, this is a great find.

nice deal... I'd upgrade to the Samsung A840 for $49.99... Great phone from what I've been reading. Nothing wrong with the VI-125, it's just too stripped of features for my tastes. I have Sprint with the PM-325 and it works pretty well everywhere I've been.

It's only for new Sprint customers, existing customers would need to cancel their existing plan completely to take advantage of this offer.

There's also a $49.99 plan for 1250 minutes
and a $99.99 plan for 2500 minutes

(same other stuff as above, unlimited night/weekend, unlimited vision access, etc.)

PM me if you want some more details or would want this plan officially from sprint.com/sero and not this InPhonic stuff

Text messages can be added for $5/100, $10/500, $15/Unlimited.

You can also instead choose a Nextel phone and receive:

unlimited nextel walkie-talkie
unlimited data access
unlimited web access
unlimited image/audio messages
unlimited email/instant messaging

This would be great if you could add some phones to the plan. Right now I have 4 phones for 800 min, web, 7pm nights for $90 (after taxes). If phones could be added I'd go for the $49.99 plan!

i love sprint. i've gone thru ALL the wireless providers in my area. here's what i say, if cost is your main concern and you don't mind bad service, get t-mobile or cingular. if money is totally not an issue, and all you care is service, go verizon (although it's been going downhill). but if you want service at a good price, sprint is the way to go! =)

sprint -> cingular -> verizon -> t-mobile -> at&t -> sprint.
(never stayed at t-mobile or at&t, cancelled it)

LOL, if you actually clicked through the sprint.com/sero deal, you'd see that InPhonic handles all the orders. The link I posted is indeed just a back door, and I don't think it will last long.

So I can get a Treo that has unlimited web and email enabled for $35 a month???

Cingular and Verizon both charge somewhere in the neighborhood of $50 alone per month for the data service.

Yes, PCS Vision servce is unlimited usage nvmyz71

Xchurs: Depends on your area, check sprintpcs.com to see if your zipcode gets coverage, and usually taxes are about $5.

ziddey: I have no idea, I don't actually work with PCS/Wireless stuff so you'd need to contact a sales rep for that. Sorry

existing customers have to do what we always did: go through retentions

it really sucks that we have to do that to get better treatment than new customers.

I'd ace that VI-125 and get a real phone. LG and Sprint don't really go together. Case in point, LG's flagship, the MM-535, has MAJOR issues.

Hi, long time lurker, first time poster.

So does this mean, that you can use Sprint Vision all the time, at any time of day for as long as you want? Or does "Unlimited Usage" mean that you can use as many of the 500 anytime Minutes towards Vision usage, and it's only "unlimited" for the free nights and weekends?

Just wanted to make sure.
