Bed and box spring on the floor without a frame, will it cause damage?
I just bought a new mattress and boxspring (king) and can't quite afford a new frame quite yet (the set we'd like is over $600, we'll get it in two weeks or so) - is it safe to just sleep on the mattress/boxspring without a frame for a while, or is it necessary for the structural integrity of the set?
We could technically get a cheapy metal frame in the meantime, but it would be a waste of money since we really want the nicer set

They didn't and quoted me $150 for the metal frame. I can get one for much cheaper but have my eye on a wood bed set I'd rather get.

maybe it's an issue of trapped moisture under the bed?
or, perhaps it's just because spiders can climb into the bed a lot easier and eat you in your sleep.

The only thing I could think of that could possibly go wrong is scratching a hardwood floor.
