Tahoma is a nice, versatile font. Verdana is good for reading on the screen, but its a bit too 'wide' for print use.

edit: forgot about Trebuchet, that's a nice one too

Times New Roman of course... why do you think all books are written in something similar to it ? (serif of course)

Comic Sans looks nice, but a little unprofessional. I think Arial is the most versatile font. Hadn't really ever used Tahoma before, but it looks pretty good too.

Comic Sans is one of the ugliest fonts. I like Lucida Sans Unicode, Verdana, Arial, and Tahoma, but only at some sizes. Once they get beyond about size 10, they all get ugly and messy looking.

Most books aren't written in Times New Roman because it's an ugly font.

Dude, don't get the wrong idea but I don't think thats what the OP means.
I have a human eye, and the most pleasant font to it is Arial 10. You know there were many other people who posted things quite similar to myself.

don't forget, laser printers make the text that much more crisp and clean to the eye. I wish I had a laser printer, the ones at my school are really good.

I find that sans serif fonts are the easiest to read.

Old school journalists and designers (read: the profs I had in college) swore by serifs. Quite a bit of companies are starting to incorporate a LOT more sans serif typefaces.

It really just depends on how large the blocks of text are, and whether it's print or screen.

I think I've seen Franklin Gothic used in magazines. Looks much cleaner than serifed fonts.

I've grown to hate comic sans because it just looks so silly and unprofessional in most places it's used.

You sir, bring SHAME to the nuclear avatar! The rest if us like comic sans! :frown:
The rest of you bring shame to me. Try making a long study of design focusing on typography and then telling me how much you like Comic Sans. I may not be a pro designer (several years amateur hobby experience with a few paid pieces) but at least I don't favor the font of MS Bob.
