You can, but it's too dry for their skin.

Dog shampoo better idea;,

Baby shampoo ok,

add about 2 oz vegetable oil to the dogs food for the next 3-4 days,
to help with the dry skin.

Regular Shampoo is bad for them because it drys out their skin.

Don't use people shampoo. You can use something like Johnson's Baby Shampoo if you have to. That's what we use but we don't give our dog a bath very often.

Or take them to the groomers, pay $30 each, and bill your sister.

You know, they do make dog shampoo, and it's not expensive...

Wash them with Pert. One time isn't going to make them dry up and blow away.

pert at least has conditioning already in it. my mom used to wash our dog with pert plus, and she never had any problems, but the dog was also one of those dual-coated dogs (course fur outside, soft insulating fur inside), so it was probably a lot easier for the dog to retain/regain skin oil.

Shave them with a bic razor and douse them in rubbing alcohol.

The others are correct about the harshness of "people" shampoo on dogs, however, occasional use will not hurt anything.
A better alternative would be to use a "moisturizing" type soap. Dove, Liquid Moisturizing body wash, etc.

I just went out and picked some up. There really should be a law that you wash your dog if someone is going to watch your dog for a few days
