I don't see what the big deal is. The statue drew attention of the type that the community didn't particularly care for. Maybe if the news media wouldn't try to make a big deal out of things, it would still be there. I didn't see anywhere that the community was complaining about the size of the statue's boobs, just that they didn't like that the statue drew unwanted attention. Don't see why it is newsworthy that they have decided not to use it, but then again, the media will chase anything that might garner some attention.
And they are disproportionately large as far as breasts go, but I think they aesthetically balance the statue.
