Default broken tail light ticket UPDATE NUMBER 2

apparently cops have nothing better to do on memorial day than to pull over my g/f for a non working tail light.

she has 3 lights and only the right one was out and of course, she had no idea.

This is recockulous. How can she get this dismissed?

It doesn't even say how much the ticket is.

UPDATE:
Found this link here which states in FL. you only need to have 2/3 working brake lights.

http://forums.officer.com/forums/showthread.php?t=86245

Letter to P

"An incompetent officer pulled me over and gave me a ticket for a faulty brake light. I later researched and found that in the state of Florida you are permitted to only have 2 out of 3 brake lights working. I did in fact have 2 out of 3 brake lights working and was still pulled over for 1 faulty brake light and issued a citation. Now I have to pay for dismissal and waste time going to a court house because of an officer's incompetence. This is both an outrage and waste of the systems resources. In addition my record is and always has been flawless in my 5+ years of driving.

the badge number is supposedly 7*** and the citation number is 2***-***.

Thank you,
J******.

UPDATE 2 RESPONSE:

Dear Ms. *****

Please contact me at your earliest convenience at the numbers listed below so that we may discuss your email complaint. My hours are 7:00 a.m. to 3:00 p.m.

Sincerely,

O****** R*******, Sergeant

It would appear that this isn't the first complaint against the incompetent officer. I may be onto something...

Default broken tail light ticket

With property tax revenue down due to falling property values, municipalities are putting increasing pressure on police to generate ticket revenue. This is only the beginning.

I've been pulled over a few times for dead lights. The cops just inform you of the dead light and tell you to get it fixed as soon as you can. I've never heard of anybody getting a ticket before.

The way I remember stuff like this working in my state is similar to if you're caught driving without proof of insurance. If you've remedied the problem then the judge will usually dismiss the whole thing.

you would think so, this actually happened to me and my mom once about 5 years ago. She got pulled over by a state trooper who said the same thing, whilst issuing a ticket.

we had to pay a fee in court to get it dismissed.

I went last year for speeding and the judge said "if this is for faulty equipment step forward" and then dismissed all those cases provided the problem was solved.

I got one a few years back and all I had to do was submit a receipt for the new taillight w/ the summons, fairly easy from my experience.

It's a fix it ticket. Just fix it, take it over to the police station and get it off your records.

we don't have to go to court? Court is such a waste of time and they make me go cross county which is a 2 hour drive.

"When you fix the problem, get an authorized person to sign the "Certificate of Correction" part of your ticket.

Take the proof of correction to the court and pay the dismissal fee before the deadline. You can check your ticket or contact the court to see if the court accepts proof of correction by mail.

The court will then dismiss your case and it won't go on your record."

so is this going to cost me one way or the other???

It's a holiday. Lots of drunks driving around out there. You can figure the rest out yourself if you haven't already.

Property values as computed by municipalities are quite different from actual selling prices on the market.

Most municipalities have some form of a mathematical formula to determine value.

The current real estate market has no bearing on government determined property values.

Correct. Also, there are many localities that have no incoming revenue from property tax. The tax paid goes to the county and schools, not the local government.

Well, it's about time you tell that gf of yours to put a "pee in my butt" w/ down arrow tattoo on her lower back to avoid any future tickets.

So, why didn't you let your girlfriend know her tail light was out? Or have you never seen her leave your place? Tip for everyone: keep one spare headlamp and one spare tail light in the glove box. "Thank you officer, I didn't know it was out. I can replace it right now if you wouldn't mind holding your flashlight for me." You're not going to get a fixit ticket in that case.

Default broken tail light ticket UPDATE!!

yeah I never noticed the faulty bulb...

Read my update, according to the 'officer forum' the cop didn't have any right to even pull over a car with two working tail lights.

I wasted no time contacting my local PD and voicing my opinion on behalf of my g/f in this regard.
