Default Best mousepad for the MX518?

I wanted to get some opinions on what was the best mousepad for the MX518. I'm looking for the smoothest movement for this mouse without adding teflon feet, wax, etc... to the mouse itself. I have tried several mousepads (fUnc Surface 1030, RatPadz GS, Everglide Giganta and Xtreme GamingMat) but the smoothest one so far has been the cheap Everglide MouseMat with the pictures on them. I haven't found anything that the MX518 glides on better but the surface is too small for my liking. Does anyone have any experience on this subject? Thanks in advance.

My desk is smooth but not better than the MouseMat, but I haven't tried using wood though. As for searching on the net for the answer, I have. The problem is that they have reviews on the MX518 saying how good it is and even comparing how it performs on the desk compared to a expensive mousepad. But I haven't seen anything on how it performs on the various gaming mousepads. I'm just looking for someone that may have done a side by side comparison with the MX518. I have the MX510 also and the feet on it is definitely different than the MX518, so I don't think MX510 reviews help as much.

IMO, any "decent" mousepad is good enough. Why spend another $20 or $30 bucks on a mousepad when you already spent around $40 on a mouse.

Why do some people buy an expensive luxury car when a cheap sedan can get them from point A to point B? I purchased the MX518 because I like to play FPSs. Since I enjoy gaming, I can justify spending extra money to enjoy the experience more. The mouse works great on the MouseMat that I'm using, but I keep running off the edge when I'm playing.

I have the fUnc Surface 1030 and like the size of the pad. I tried both sides of it (rough side a little better than the smooth one), but the mouse doesn't glide on it as well as it does on the MouseMat. Maybe someone has one of those steel pads or glass pads with a MX518? I tried some of the hard plastic pads and vinyl pads, but haven't tried any made with exotic materials.

THG has a number of good mousepad reviews in their "Games and Entertainment" section, none of them use the MX518 specificaly but for the most part a good mousepad is a good mousepad no matter what mouse you use on it.
