Default Does anyone else feel like crap if they sleep too much?

I know it sounds stupid, but if I get too much sleep at night I'm even more tired the next day.

Last night I went to bed early, so I got maybe 10 hours of sleep and I am dragging my ass around today.

This happens all the time.. 5-7 hours and I feel great, more than that and I feel terrible.

Even on the weekends when I'm off I get out of bed fairly early (7:00-8:00) and I feel like a million bucks regardless of how late I went to bed.

duh. if you sleep too much, you feel like absolute shit and groggy. I hate that feeling.

The best is oversleeping by 9-10 hrs on a beautiful weekend late morning. Anything MORE than that makes you feel depressed and useless.

I know some people do, but I don't get sleep hangovers. I can sleep for many hours past the usual 6-8 and feel fine.

In your REM state, your body actually reverts to the fight or flight stage. Your sympathetic nervous system goes off, and many of your adrenals go off. Your seretonin levels bottom out.
Hence, you feel shitty.

God I wish I had your problem. Anything less than 7 hours makes me feel like barf. I prefer 10-13 hours a sleep.

I have a sweet spot that I need to hit. Around 7 hours. If I go over that, I need to go over by 2 hours..no more, no less. If I do, I feel like crap.

I have to get at least 12 or 13 hours of sleep before I feel groggy the next day. My sweet spot is 8 - 10 hours.

I average about 4-6 hrs a night sleep, if I sleep more than 8, I feel like crap the next day. I guess that is just what my body is used to.

I don't feel like crap per say, but I definitely operate better if I wake up before like 13 hours of sleep. Sometime around 9-10 is awesoooooommme.

I usually take a nice long nap to offset the drowsiness of oversleeping.

Yes. If I sleep more than 9 hrs I feel as bad as having slept 4 hrs.

"Too much" for me would have to be more than 12 hours. After that, my neck will usually hurt.
<7 hrs, and I start to see serious deficits in thinking capabilities
7-8 = "ideal"
8-12 = weekend sleep, the best kind. 9-10 hours is typical for when I don't have to be up early. I may drag for a little while, but I'm in a better state of mind than when I have too little sleep.
>12 = I'm probably sick, or else did something the day before that was completely exhausting, such as working with concrete for a full day.

9-10 hours is my ideal sleep, 10-12 hours if i was previously sleep deprived. i've slept up to 16 hours before and I don't think I've ever felt worse because of more sleep. on the contrary, the 5-6 hours per night i average during the weekdays slowly grinds my body into exhaustion whereas a long sleep makes me feel incredible. i'm sure there are many factors that affect how much you can sleep - how comfortable your bed and pillows are, how tired you are, how much "repair" your body needs (e.g. after weight lifting), your mental state, etc.

I average 5-6 on the week, and 10-12 on weekend. I do feel like shit after waking up on a saturday morning with 12 hours of sleep behind me, but I feel good knowing I worked off some of the sleep deprivation I worked up that week.
