Default Cheapest way to ship a package to Europe? (from U.S.)

Well Valentines day is coming up and my girlfriend is currently studying abroad in Italy. Feel free to make fun of me for being a sap if you wish, but I made her one of those teddy bears from build a bear. For some reason the teddy bear craze seems to come to young girls and then reappear in college girls. (mine being the college girl) Anyway, shipping seems to be expensive as hell to Europe. Im not too concerned with it getting there on the actual day, as long as it arrives. Its the thought that counts right? What shipping service is my best bet? (cheapest) UPS, FedEX, DHL, etc? I entered in some dimensions in their sites and it told me it would be around 80 bucks. Im hoping thats not the cheapest I can do. I know people ship things internationally on ebay all the time. Any ideas?

Thanks

Cheap to overseas would be the USPS.

edit: If you want it there by Monday, you'll probably need to use FedEx.

OMG, if you want to ship something internationally and want it there by Monday, prepare to PAY THROUGH THE ASS.

International shipping is NOT cheap to *begin* with.

I've shipped everything from golf clubs, to bikes, to booze to Europe, and the cheapest by far is USPS. If you know anyone that works for an airline, talk to them. I know AA ee's get 75% off fed ex. Makes shipping to Europe almost tolerable.

USPS sometimes beats FedEx even with the 75% off.

USPS Global Priority Mail

Assuming you're going to Great Britain for instance, you can send a 4 pound large parcel for $26.00... larger than that you'll have to use Parcel Post (slower, but up to 66 pounds).

Yep and here are the rates to Italy, it's considerably cheaper than $80.

You should have mailed this last week and allowed 2 weeks for it to arrive then it would get there ON TIME.

Cheapest is USPS. FedEx will get it there fast, but it's expensive.

I sent my brother the first 3 seasons of Smallville on DVD. It cost me $75 to send it to him (Rome, Italy 00166) and because I labeled it differently, they didn't charge him Customs fees. The last time I sent him a package (computer mouse & comic books, DDR RAM), they charged him 30 Euro for Customs.

I trust both, though for international mail. USPS just takes longer (also note that USPS, afaik, doesn't have "Global Priority" for Italy).

By the way, a friend of mine grew up in Malta, and he said that tourists and chicks studying abroad were the easiest to get. He said that he'd bring them on his boat and the success rate was nearly 100%.

Just buy something thru the web from a local shop. Flower shops always have nice gifts...

Absolutely! After living in a college town for 15 years, I can certify that's how it goes 99% of the time.
