Default Naked Juice

I?ve been drinking Naked Juice (Green Machine, Blue Machine, Strawberry/Banana) on a regular basis for a while now and it has been a big help in my weight loss battle over the last 18 months, but, I?m starting to get extremely bored with it. It?s lost its pizzazz and I wasn?t too keen with the other varieties.

I saw a couple of post with protein/calorie shakes that used it, but that?s not where I?m at. Anyone have any creative ideas for it or something you?ve tried? Or alternatives? It?s not really too important, but it?d be nice to have a change.

Why not get a blender and mix whey protein and some bananas/berries? I actually keep bananas and berries in the freezer so that they keep longer, and if you're blending it anyway, it works out great with that. If I'm not having it as a post-workout shake, and I'm feeling too lazy to cook something, I'll add peanut butter and/or low-fat yogurt.

They sell that stuff at my University's convenience store for $4 a bottle. While I read the contents of it and think drinking kelp or whatever else is in it is healthy, it's really about marketing.

A serious product wouldn't be called Naked... It's just to grab everyone's attention... If you hit Vitamin World or GNC, they'll have some good alternatives for protein/meal replacement drinks. Most juice drinks are high in carbs, so keep that in mind if you're on a low-carb diet. If you're going with the low-cal diets, just look for something that's going to give you some nutrition rather than sugar.

I've been drinking a lot of low-sodium V8 lately. If you hit Walmart, you can get the regular V8 in walmart brand (vegetable juice) for $.50 a 12oz can. V8 is about $3.80-4 per 6 pack (12oz cans). Just be aware that the cheap brand doesn't have a nice looking bottle....I usually pay a buck fifty extra because the V8 can looks like it wasn't made in the 90s.

I've tried a few flavors. I may get the C-boost varieties when I'm sick or getting sick. They provide like 1000% of vitamin C in one of those little bottles. They are pricey, but they're only like $2.xx at Wal-Mart vs. $3.99 at some grocery stores. I've also tried some of the oddwalla (spelling?) and they're similar in taste and price. But my favorite part is asking the wife: "Do you wanna get Naked?" when we pass them in the grocery store

I drink these from time to time when I cannot find a Jamba Juice nearby. Otherwise at home I also make yogurt + fruit or soy/rice milk + fruit drinks as well. The home made version of course much cheaper. A common drink I would make before sports was soy milk + fresh banana + concetrated pomegranate or pear/peach/mango nectar + protein powder.

All this stuff is really easy to make and much cheaper then buying products like Naked from a shop. You can buy frozen berries, keep bananas on hand, protein powder, soy milk, yogurt, etc. You can blend it up (I use a multimix, small and cleans up in like 30 seconds) and you can store it in the fridge for at least 2 days and shake it up when you want to drink it.

I buy Mighty Mango Naked at CostCo. Two large bottles are $6.99 I think.

While juice like this is in some ways healthy, it's very expensive and has tons of sugar (not added, but natural...either way its a lot of sugar)

I've been drinking Naked for five years. The most reasonable way to afford it is Dominicks. They have a monthly (one week a month) sale on certain varieties (like the Power C and Immunity) but it varies month-to-month. Either way, it's usually 2/$5, which comes out to $2.50/ea. That's pretty reasonable for a healthy breakfast, just make sure you have it with a bagle or something so you don't have heart burn like I do when I drink it 'dry'.

I firmly believe the infusion of electrolytes and vitamines has kept me as healthy as I am for the past few years. I never get sick. Working around as many different people and traveling as much as I do, that's something to be said.

I've tried making my own fruit drinks with my Magic Bullet, but there is no way to pressure strain it the way Naked has been, so it's always 'seedy' and 'blotchy' in texture, just not quite as good, but definately cheaper and equally healthy...if you can put up with the texture and taste.

I just found a new alternative to Naked brand juices. Bolthouse Farms. Ever since I found it at a premium grocery store near my work, I have had 1 a day for the last week. I love it. It tastes better then Naked and per ounce is much cheaper. I buy a 1 Liter for $4.89. I have tried a green machine style one (apple, banana, green stuff (veg, spirulina, algae etc), Vanilla Chai protein is really good, and this passion-carrot-apple is amazing. All are fortified with some vitamins and are low in sugar, salt. I just drank an entire vanilla chai right now lol. It's basically a meal replacement cuz I don't have time to eat and you can't snack in OR nor would you want to Later at my office I will probably eat something substantial since liquid meals don't hold me over too long.

I have a Vita-Mix Super 5000 blender that makes Naked-quality blended drinks. Buying Naked in bulk is actually cheaper than concocting my own recipes. Fresh fruit isn't cheap.

I get the Bolthouse farms carrot juice on a fairly regular basis. That Vanilla Chai is tasty, but has loads and loads of sugar. The Bolthouse stuff is a little bit cheaper though most of the time.

Found a new place with Bolthouse 1L (34oz) drinks for $3.99. That is what I pay for the Naked drinks less then half the size (15oz).
