Default How to get the string back in a hoodie?

I did laundry last night and managed to work the string that pulls the hood tighter out of my sweatshirt. Anyone have any tips of how to get it back in?

A piece of rigid wire usually works.

Safety pin on the string and then guide it through.

Hm, a task that is more challenging than it looks. I've done it before by:

1. Inserting one end of the string into a hole in the hood.
2. With one hand, pinch the fabric of the hood surrounding the string to hold it in place.
3. With the other hand, take a small bunch of fabric not surrounding the string (further up the "path" of the string). Slide your fingers down the "path" towards the end of the string.
4. Grab the string and let go with the first hand. Pull the bunch of fabric towards the hole into which you inserted the string.
5. Repeat steps 2 - 4 until you work the string around to the other hole in the hood.

Good luck. :beer::beer:

perfect explination. It's not at all hard to do. It can be frustrating though.

Coat hanger. Tape string to end, thread hanger through hole, remove string from end, retract hanger.

Huh.

I always take the string OUT of my hoodies first chance I get. I hate those strings.

Don't put the string back in. You'll save yourself the possiblity of it getting caught on something and strangling you, later someone finds you and it's ruled death by Autoerotic Asphyxiation.

if everything fails, a lot of sporting good stores sell a kit for this but is made for swim trunks, it does work for hoodies though

I take the string out of my hoodies, however in my sweatpants I use the safety pin technique.

My mom managed this feat once or twice, but by the time I was in middle school, most of my drawstring clothing... wasn't.
