Average, I don't know....

It totally depends on where you live, IIRC.

Edit:

Ah well, 0.26 seconds on google revealed;

Damn, that's expensive.

Residential: 3.983c/kWh, 3.409c/kWh, 3.87c/kWh, 5.47c/kWh

Just found that for Virginia.. that's the 4 major companies' rates.

VA power must be cheap. That means it'll cost about 32 cents a day to run my computer, assuming it's always at maximum draw.

Mine here in SW Indiana is a little over .07/khH. But that includes a $4.35 service charge.

I upgraded my central air conditioning system from a old 5-6 SEER unit to a Trane XR12 (with new air handler & A-coil). I also swapped out my old 30 gallon gas water heater for a 40 gallon Maytag Series 12.
My utility bill has a total charge of $9.28 for natural gas even if I don't use ANY.

Anyway, for the past two months my total utility bills have dropped 40% and 36% respectively.
To be fair, this summer hasn't been as hot as last.

That's before distribution charge. To see actual amount, divide your total electric cost by the amount of kw/h used on your bill. Usually just below a dime per kw/h in the summer and just over a nickel in the winter.

NY (Long Island) numbers:

Basic service: $.1790
Regular usage: $.1249 / $.1367 (what's this difference anyway?)

My last bill: 225KWH @ .1249 and 157KWH @ .1367. I had the guy explain it to me once before but now I forget. It wasn't as simple as peak vs. off-peak usage.

How is your electric bill so low Ours is usually 4 to 6 times that much This months bill 600 kWH @.115652 - 69.39 and 72 kWh @.13028 - 9.38 It was kind of low because no one was home for nearly a week. And this doesnt include the gas

Edit: This is in NJ.

In central Kentucky, if you don't have an all-electric house, the rate structure looks something like:

Service charge: $2.75
First 100 KWh: 4.886 cents/KWh
Next 300 KWh: 4.452 cents/KWh
Anything after the first 400KWh: 4.063 cents/KWh

So, at 1200KWh, your charge including service fee is about 4.4 cents/KWh

If you have an all-electric house, the rate structure looks something like:

Service charge: $3.75
First 1000 KWh: 4.118 cents/KWh
Anything after the first 1000 KWh: 3.736 cents/KWh
