Default Difference between micro ATX and flex ATX

Ok, mobo experts...

I have a ibm netvista case that will hold a flex atx board. I had been running an ecs mobo, but it got fried by a lightning strike. I have gotten two replacement ecs boards and neither one works properly.

So, what is the difference between micro / flex atx, and can I use a micro atx instead.

Ah, that explains the "Angry Face".

MicroATX
FlexATX

Essential differences - Flex is smaller. What's your IBM model/part number? IIRC, most of the IBM boards used mATX and not Flex, so you might be able to work it. Another way is to count the PCI slots on the motherboard. A Flex with have two at most, mATX can have 3 or 4.

FlexATX is 9 in x 7.5 in , and MicroATX is 9.6 in x 9.6 in.

I believe that Netvista case can take 9.6 in. wide motherboard, but it will not take 9.6 depth.

There are quite a few MicroATX motherboard which are less than 9.6 deep, and some of them should fit inside Netvista case. Just look for those with non-square shape. You can also measure inside the Netvista case.
