Default Minnows in a bucket how long will they live?

I just got in from fishing with my friends and for some reason I ended up taking the minnows home. I have them in decent sized bucket but there are alot of minnows in the bucket....probly somewhere in the 30-50 range. How often do I need to change the water to keep them alive?

They won't last long in a normal bucket.....now a minnow bucket submerged in the lake is a different story. At my lake house I have kept them all weekend in the minnow bucket, but an hour or two in a regular bucket would be doing good

Minnows can survive for a long time in sewer water. Just give them a flush.

Need an aquarium pump. Run to the pet store and buy one. They aren't too expensive.

Get a larger container with fresh water and they might last until morning.

You want water that's exactly the same temperature that they're in now otherwise you run the risk of sending them into shock and killing them.

No, I'm not kidding, part of the process of introducing a fish into a new aquarium is to SLOWLY acclimate it to the conditions and temperature of the water.

actually, the best thing is if you have a pasta strainer or something, put it on top of the bucket, and then stick it under the bathtub faucet, with a medium stream of appropriate temp. water... let the stream of water flow into the bucket and let it overflow, the strainer will keep the fish in, but let the exchange of water keeps them alive

It is a misconception that air pumps oxegenate the water for aqariums. 90%+ is simply from the surface contact with the air, not from the air pumped in.

The minnows are probably cheaper than buying a pump anyway.
If they die they die, get more next time you go fishing.

Well ive been up all night changing the water for these fvckers! I think I did kill a few of them by putting them into shock....oh well. Id say over the night about 60% of them died. Probly wasnt worth my efforts but oh well.
