Default First Gaming Build

First time build. I'm looking for any suggestions or improvements. I'm mostly going to be playing a variety of games (FPS, MMO) as well as producing music with a hint of video editing, so I'm looking for a build that excels across the board. I already have a copy of Windows 7, a 1080p monitor, keyboard and mouse. Thanks in advance for your helpful advice.

Money is generally not an issue, although I would like to keep it around $1000 if possible.

CPU: i5 3570k $190 (microcenter)
CPU Cooler: Hyper 212 Evo $30 (microcenter)
MB: ASRock Z77 Extreme 4 $95 (microcenter)
GPU: Sapphire Radeon 7950 $280 (newegg)
RAM: G.SKILL Sniper Series 8GB $50 (newegg)
HD : Seagate Barracuda 1TB $80 (newegg)
PSU: SeaSonic X Series X650 $90 (newegg)
CD/DVD : LG 24x DVD Burner $16 (microcenter)
CASE: HAF 922 $100 or Phantom 410 $80 (microcenter)

Moved from HT to GH

Not highly technical, but looks good.
Hard drive is $68 at NCIX.

RAM looks overpriced as well. Here's 16GB for $60

Thanks DominionSeraph! I didn't do much price hunting for the HD or the ram, just kind of threw those in without much thought. However now that I think about it, does the HD or the ram make much of a difference? Also, do you think the power supply would be sufficient, or could I do better for the price?

Edit: I noticed that the ram didn't have any reviews on newegg? Also, I've never heard of the brand, would it still be safe to purchase?

Seems that PSU is now out of stock. If it comes back in stock before you order you should snag it, but it is a little overkill for your needs. This one will work fine:

The hard drive I linked is a good 1TB/platter 64MB cache one. Caviar Blacks have a 5 year warranty if you want to pay $90:

Kinda up to you whether you prefer the hassle of warranty replacement or prefer to just buy one.

And you haven't heard of GeIL?
You should snap that memory up. 8GB DDR3-1600 CAS 9 modules are typically $40 each, not $30.

CPU Good
Cooler Good
Board Good
GPU Good
RAM Overpriced. Get Samsung's low-profile RAM for $40, it's the best
HDD Overpriced. ST1500DM003 $70 @ncix
PSU Out of stock. Wow, there are literally no good PSU deals on right now. Maybe stick to single GPU - Corsair CX500 $40 AR AP. Dual GPU compatibility is going to cost you $98 AR - XFX 750W XXX
Case Meh. Corsair 200R $60

With the money saved I would add an SSD - Samsung 830 128GB $113

Agree with lehtv on the SSD. You really should not do without in a $1k build.

To lehtv's suggestion. It's good as always.

Since you're only looking at 1080p, I would forget Crossfire/SLI compatibility and get the Z77 Pro3 instead of the Extreme4 (save $40).
