Latin is only useful if you're Catholic or want to be intelligent and get into a good college.

I used it every time I visit the early Roman Empire.

As far as dead languages go, it is pretty useful... though I'd rather learn Greek.
The benefit of learning any second, third, etc language is that you understand your primary one a little better. Parts of speech, conjugations, participles, tenses, etymology when dealing with related languages, etc.

I know enough Spanish from school to know while that looks similar to Spanish, it's actually Portuguese.

awww so you cant translate it? Bummer, so how similar are we talking about...lets say similar like a Taitian, samoan, an Hawaiian type similar? Because ploynisians have almost the same languages, the samoans most of there words have the S...the Tahitains the T, an the hawaiians...well very fading language mostly pidgeon english but some have fluentness that incorperate the the H with older kapunas ome of the T's.

Unless you're a scientist, doctor, or Catholic priest, it's irrelevant. Though I would assume knowing Latin would make learning other Romance languages (French, Spanish, Italian) easier.

Much less useful than knowing another spoken language. Even as a doctor, would you rather be able to speak directly to a Spanish speaking patient or would you rather know the original meaning of some jargon that's easily memorized or looked up?

You need cursive to come up with your signature, don't you?

Not to derail my own thread, but since the concensus is that Spanish would be more useful, does anyone have advice on teaching it if I do not speak it/know it? Hire a tutor?

Geez I would have translated the words of that pic, but this key pad dosent have all the nessisary symbols to type in google translate. The pictures kinda show whats going on though.

Its probably saying

1 the tiger is longer an faster

2 the lion is taller

3 the lion is protected by his heavy mane.

4 the tiger is more acrobatical

5 the lion has more fighting experince

6 stamina leads to the victor of the lion...

I dont know but thats what the pictures show. To bad no one speaks portugese.

I was alluding to "acrobatical" not being a word.

I almost always write in cursive. Not sure why but it's always felt more natural and I don't like having to lift my pen off the paper if I can help it.

Since you all hate it so much I'll just be writing in code in 20 years when none of the younger generation can read it.
