I missed the great deal on the Velociraptor...and I'm not ready to jump to the SSD...YET, so I "settled" for a WD Black drive for now.

$89 for 1 TB @ Amazon. IMO, it's a good compromise for now.

Big normal HDD still have a solid place and that price looks pretty normal. Personally I think the price sweet spot is more with 2 TB because you get a lot more GB/£ but 1TB HDD is still a lot cheaper than an SSD.
