My most serious game days were on a PC but life caught up to me (read: less time for gaming) and having an up to date PC ultimately became more of a hassle than a few hundred dollar console. It's been so long since I had a PC now that I can't quite remember how damn awful FPS games are without a mouse and so I actually enjoy them with the controller.

If the children or other family members will have access to the gun then they should be interrogated too.

We can also use teachers to enforce these rules, they can ask their students to be honest and if mommy and daddy are in violation of these rules.

See the problem is, a lot of people use 'Achievements' as validation for their own self esteem. In short, if they can't prove themselves 'Better' than someone else, then what is the point of playing. They use it as pretty much bragging rights.

Only who cares? Yeah, you have more free time to play Halo than I do. I'm having SEX with a woman. Who wins that? but then the "lot of people" that you are citing are probably 12 year olds.

Have you looked for professional help?
Have to agree... Who gives a toss about achievements anyways...

Achievements: one of the deadly sins that has ruined modern gaming.
I get being a completionist. However, this really speaks to self restraint. Just because you go hiking every once in a while, doesn't mean that you aren't real until you have taken Everest. Set your own internal 'Finish' point.

For me, I gage what portion of the game is reasonable to complete (I don't do or care about achievements), and I call that complete. Example, I play Metroid Zero Mission on my DS. I have never gotten 100% of all the items in the game. And although it is possible, I simply don't have the time or mental focus to power through them all. Because it is just a game.

set some self control. Assign completion points and work towards them. Otherwise you become a slave to whatever the Devs want to put out there.

Except I see more people building HTPCs that want a good card to play games on than ever.

Explain that one.

Not just on here dude.

My main gaming device is a PC, but I still like consoles. I just don't get most of the games on them. Tends to be platform exclusives.
