I have a 500-lumen 720p Viewsonic PLED-W500 projector and it's pretty awesome...my only complaint is that it's not very bright, so you need a very dark room to get the image to look good. Fortunately I have a basement, but bumping up to 800 lumens would sure be nice!

The great thing about LED projectors is that the bulbs last forever. I think my Viewsonic is estimated at 13 years of operation. They are also low-power, low-heat, instant-on, and tiny. My current model is about the size of a piece of paper and roughly 2" thick; this new one is even smaller at less than 7" x 5". Yay technology

720p for a projector-sized screen doesn't seem that great. I guess it doesn't matter for TV/games, but I'd want 1080p for Blu-Ray at that screen size.

Not regretting my 1080p DLP purchase a year ago... Next upgrade will be when 4K projectors are reasonably priced.

And especially with the new release of 4K UltraHD televisions & projectors, I think that will be questioned even more.

However, I've been pretty happy with 720p. I don't notice a huge difference between 720p and 1080p movies, at least not as much as going from DVD to HD. Plus, I watch a lot of stuff that wasn't recorded or broadcast in HD (Youtube, DVD movies, TV shows on Netflix, family videos, etc.) and looks better upscaled to the smaller resolution of 720p rather than 1080p. But with that said, I would really like to see a relatively inexpensive 1080p LED projector show up. My Viewsonic LED was under $600 new (still is) and I like it better than my previous Mitsubishi DLP HD front projector - the LED model has amazing contrast, plus the bulb lasts forever and it turns on instantly, which is awesome. And also doesn't turn my room into an oven, which is nice
