But it sure did take quite awhile to gather the information to get Genius started, what all did it do and what information did Genius send to Apple?
thanks

My understanding, from an article I read when Genius first came out 2-3 years ago, is that it is scraping your library for some metadata and tags, (but stripped of ownership information), it transmits that to the iTS servers where it then says that X songs go with Y songs.
IIRC, it was also looking at how people were making their playlists, and if a couple thousand people had Song 1 and Song 2 paired up in a playlist, it would then put them together in a Genius playlist.

Well thanks for that information Stu. I do gotta say that I have been pretty impressed with Genius in the past, countless times it has chosen the exact songs I wanted to hear. Song 1 plays because I played it, Genius plays the next few songs and I am like, dang man!... i'd have played those songs too!

Oh yea, I use genius all the time. I'll hear a song on shuffle and think 'yea, that's my mood right now' and hit genius and now i have a ton of songs that fit with it.

Ideas?
itunes just isn't working perfectly for me; I wish I had not upgraded to 11.
1) Now when I take a legit format MP4 and drag it into the movies tab nothing whatsoever appears to happen--It never shows in that tab. However, it does show in the "list" section and Genre, never in unwatched, or movies. Just kind of weird. It does show under movies on the appletv, though, if it streams from the PC.
2) If I delete a movie from file system, how can I force it to sync in itunes? There appears no way to refresh so that it drops now-bad movies automatically, or a bunch at once unless I try and play from itunes, it complains, and then I delete it.

I didn't see it mentioned but a nice new feature is that Apple has finally provided more options for bit rate down sampling for "high resolution" music. You can now choose 192 or 256 kbps in addition to the originally provided 128.

I thought they only had the 128 kbps option before? At least that was the only option last time I tried it.
