Default Va State trooper pulls over a suspicious vehicle near the Pentagon.... oh no, it's the, the...

Oscar Meyer Weinermobile!!!!!

MADISON, Wis., June 21 (UPI) -- It could have been wurst.

A pair of hot doggers taking their Wienermobile to the National Capital Barbecue Battle in Washington were pulled over by the Virginia State Police this week for driving too close to the Pentagon.

Sarah Delea, a spokeswoman for Oscar Mayer, said Friday the pair was unaware Route 110 had been closed to truck traffic since the Sept. 11 terrorist attacks on the Pentagon and World Trade Center.

"A police officer let them know and was kind enough to direct traffic to allow the Wienermobile to exit," Delea said. No ticket was issued.

The distinctive hot dog-shaped truck packed with hot dog whistles and a karaoke machine for singing bologna jingles was making its first trip of the summer from Madison with a pair of rookie hot doggers, Will Keller and Paula Pendleton, both 22 and recent college graduates who had just finished a two-week-long course Hot Dog High.

"They were very apologetic. They didn't see any signs but now they know. They'll make sure not to go down route 110 again," Delea said.

The incident occurred late Tuesday.

"Obviously this was a mistake," Virginia State Police spokeswoman Lucy Caldwell told the Milwaukee Journal Sentinel. "This hot dog posed no threat to us."

Speaking from Madisonian experience, they were most likely drunk and possibly stoned, hehe... What a perfect job for a slacker!

I've seen it too, coming at me on the highway. I was thinking "what the hell is that" -- the head-on profile of a giant bun and hot dog is not something you see everyday speeding toward you. When I finally could see what it was I just started laughing. Funny to see it like that, driving 50 mph down the highway.

I'm not really the biggest hot dog fan, but i've always wanted to drive the wiener mobile around. That would be so cool, in a strange dorky sort of way

Top this: I RODE in one.
My neighbor drove the thing in the fall of '95. When they came home on breaks it would be parked in his driveway. His sister and my buddy were all on the same swim team and we needed a ride to the school to catch the bus, so he very kindly offered to give the three of us a cruise across town.
It rocked.
Think we won that meet, too. The luck of the weiner. I still have some weinie whistles and matchbox weinies around here somewhere....
