it's the 2412m that's 6-bit, iirc.

At that price, it damn well better be 8-bit!

Costco has it for $649.99 (includes shipping). Of course, if you aren't a Costco member you would need to sign up.

Deal is back on. Amazon is out of stock, but you can still order at $559 and they will deliver when they get it back in. You just need to add it from the "other buying options".

I don't know about this particular model, but IPS panels have traditionally been fine for gaming.

I'm sorry, i've used 120hz panels and if that's what you're referring to, i'd strongly disagree. If you're referring to a CRT that's pretty laughable, i'd rather not use a 50 pound hunk of junk with trinitron dampening wires. Anyways, 120hz is nice, but having to stare at a god awful TN panel with horrible color shifting, poor viewing angles, with most 120hz panels having horrible bleed - no thank you. 2560x1440 to me is far more immersive than any garbage TN panel, regardless of refresh rate.

There is no noticeable input lag for me on the u3011 or 2713HM, they are great for gaming.

Some gamers seem to insist that a cheap junk TN panel at 23 inches and a low 1080p resolution is good for gaming. Once you game at 2560x1600 there is no going back, gaming at super high resolution is immersive. Staring at pixels (due to low 1080p resolution) and being subjected to color shifting on TN panels turns me off, if anything.

for that price you could get 3 "junk" TN panels for eyefinity or surround. pretty sure thats more immersive.

Eyefinity with TN panels? Good luck with the crappy viewing angles.

This is a pretty stupid argument to be having in hot deals.

Now you're talking.

Even a cheap, 6-bit IPS is better than a TN.

Been looking for a deal for while and seem to always miss the $559 one. Anywho I never realized this but it seem that there is 2 different models of U2713:

U2713HM: http://accessories.us.dell.com/sna/p...9&sku=225-4015
U2713H: http://accessories.us.dell.com/sna/p...9&sku=225-4148

H version seems to be quite a bit nicer...

Thanks for the information guys. No wonder the U2713HM looked slightly lacking. I had it in my Amazon cart for $559 + NY State tax, but couldn't bring myself to pull the trigger.

$999 for the U2713H is a little too rich for my blood, though at $659 it would be a no-brainer.

http://www.anandtech.com/show/6308/d...t-of-the-box/6

that review is what im talkin about in the conclusion they mention gaming but they didnt run it at its native resolution so the determination they make regarding the refresh rate being to slow for gaming isnt conclusive.

I am just doing a lot of reading and looking around so whatever links or solid suggestions anybody has would be great with regards to a 27" nice monitor to go with my gtx670 and a resolution of 2560x1440 at least.

This monitor has been fairly easy to get via Dell for a good price. They had a deal where you could buy a $500 Dell gift card and get a $90 gift card free. Get Dell to match the $559 prices online and stack the cards.

In many cases the Dell reps will easily go to $599 on the phone, so that's $510 when you figure in the free gift card. My monitor arrived on the 24th and is excellent.
