[DEAD!] Seasonic PLATINUM 660w Modular - $90AR@Newegg (1 Day Only)
Link: http://www.newegg.com/Product/Produc...-17151121-L01B
Code: EMCYTZT2904
Yes, indeed, Seasonic is out with the replacement for the venerable x650/660 Gold series, known as the SS-660XP, and not surprisingly, it's been heralded as the best PSU on the market: http://www.hardocp.com/article/2013/..._supply_review. And I quote: "When you buy a Seasonic PLATINUM-660 you are simply getting exactly what you paid for; quite possibly the best PSU we have ever reviewed."
Friends, this deal is no joke - it is absolutely blazing hot!

Damnit - I have absolutely no need for this. But. I. Want. It.
Only 9999 per customer though? Weak

Hmmm - didn't realize it had anything like the hybrid fanless design. I have been looking long term for some fanless PSUs for my HTPC. Anyone know if this would work well instead? It's cheaper than I have seem the good quality fanless models. The fan could spin up on this one but I can't imagine the load on my HTPC would get anywhere near 400w let alone 600w. Or should I just keep waiting for something like the 400-SL?

The article says the fan didn't spin up until about 30% load. In the past, other users have suggested that in fact the fan cutoff isn't related to load but to temps, so that may be a YMMV kind of thing. But I can pretty much assure you that under 150w, it won't spin. That's about how my x650 works. Just be careful - it's not a compact PSU, so if your HTPC case is quite small, it might not fit.

Even when the "old" X650 fan does come on it's, as Elmer Fudd would say, "vewwy vewwy qwiet"

WOW, I just read the review of this PS on [H]ard|Ocp, and even though I'm happy with my Corsair 500W CX500M I just bought at MicroCenter, I will take it back, and get this bad boy instead.

Thanks though I talked myself out of it. I don't have any kind of need to go silent until my projector is replaced (hangs above my head and has some fan noise) and that, hopefully, won't be for a bit yet.

I thought about using it in my main rig too but I can't justify replacing the Corsair thats already in there. Not to mention the Antec Neo 620W spare I have lying around...

Saw this thread yesterday, but talked myself out of buying. None of my computers draw more than 300-400W under load, so I'm waiting for fanless PSU sale. This PSU is excellent, but I'm done listening to chirping fans in my PSUs that cannot be replaced.
