looking for a 50incher, leaning toward the 50GT50 for around $1100, is Vt50 that much better for for ~$500 more? I read that the VT50s really need calibration to look its best?

All TVs need calibration to look their best.

"Best," yes I suppose. Still absolutely stunning, definitely not. I'm basically using the settings in the highest rated review of the vt50 on Amazon, with very minor tweaks, and it looks amazing.

too bad they don't make a 50VT50, guess I will have to wait for the 50VT60 coming out in May.

55 doesn't fit in your space? At this price, I'd say that if you have room and you're in the market, you'd be crazy to pass this up.

just got a 50GT50 from bestbuy price matched Paul's TV's $999 shipped + tax. Pauls charges tax too, so it's the same price, but I feel more comfortable buying it from bestbuy for returns, etc. It's a no brainer for this price, the new 50VT60 would probably be at least twice or maybe over $2500, and I don't think it would be worth $1500+ more for a slightly better picture, etc.
