Whether or not people want to admit it, the only reason prices are so high right now (even for online college) is that the US Government backs the student loans. Much like healthcare and previously the housing market. All forcasted by experts years ago.

This is certainly where we're headed. Of course, we don't have unlimited resources, so government will have to decide who gets into Harvard and who attends their local community college, who can be a doctor and who cannot. But it'll all be free.

I have heard of some countries like that.
Free educations
Guaranteed job
No freedom.

Holy fallacy batman!
If you have the grades and aptitude then you can get into Harvard. The only thing that will change is that it won't be so expensive.
I love how people are so worried about change. Adapt, migrate, or die.

Whatever pays, they need.
Whatever doesnt, they dont.
My beef is people racking up tons of debt for shit like Art History, Womens Studies, and other things that will not likely get you any job, much less one that pays well enough to get rid of your loans.
And since the government backs up student loans, I think I have a right to complain.

Not union. It's completely normal for the plumbing bill for a 1500 sqft New house here to be around $10k materials in, most expensive item is usually a high efficiency gas water heater @ about $900, the rest is pipe and connectors. Homeowner/general contractor supplies fixtures. Total material cost is about $2200, rough-in labor about 24 man hours, finishing about 8.
So pay your apprentice $18/hr (typical second year rate) @ 16 hours, that's $288 plus employee costs, so $320 about. That leaves you with $7480 for your own 16 hours.
$467.50/hour. I see it almost every week.
