I got a broken furnace. It was cold. I did normal troubleshooting/investigating and determined that the igniter had failed.

Since you can not buy furnace parts at 7/11 or Walmart (which were the only 2 open stores in the area), I called an HVAC guy. It was $400 for a cheap easy repair. But, my house got warmer.

Also my girlfriend had to take her cat to the vet and have her put down because of some chronic respiratory problems. I was on my way to pick her up after getting my furnace fixed, and as soon as I got there, she and her mom were goin to the vet. So, I went to my mom's alone.

I hope everybody else's holidays are good this year. Mine have been quite depressing.

Thanks

2012 has been overall a good year, had a really awesome vacation with my woman in New Orleans and a cruise, had another vacation with her to South Carolina, picked the engagement ring, ordered it late in November (I'll be picking it up shortly after new years)...

... just the last week has sucked for me....
Too much bad shit for 1 week.

January will be better

32gig Nexus 7
Far Cry 3
Dark Knight Rises

Other random little things, but it was a good one. More importantly I'm home.

Not necessarily. My bro's b-day is Dec 21 and most of us get him something smaller on the birthday, but hold off on big stuff till Christmas. His x-mas haul is usually a lot better because he has multiple people combining money for some gifts. Total value per year is equal but now he can get something like a sweet TV or laptop instead of either money towards the same thing, or a cheaper/smaller version of either.

Shopvac, Drill/Light/Sawsall kit, bit set, Homeland / Game of Thrones S1 blurays, Adele and Led Zeppelin concert blurays, Halo 4, True Grit bluray x2 (gonna exchange 1).

Then my wife and I each bought each other an ipad 4 a couple weeks ago.

Not what I got, but what son #2 got. I mentioned above that we got him a nice recliner, top of the line snowboarding boots, ski jacket, and a few other things. His girlfriend's parents gave him a Christmas card with $1000 cash in it. (Three zeros, not a typo.)

Me: a hat & thinsulate work gloves for working in the barn during the winter. We won't really be "celebrating" Christmas with the family exchanging gifts until this weekend.
